When I was about 12 years old my mom started practicing Reiki and I thought it was a bit weird. I didn’t want to try Reiki.
Of course I felt that way – I was 12! We’re all a bit weird at that age and whatever our parents are into will be uncool.
So I resisted Reiki for a while but eventually I let her practice on me. One time when I was suffering from IBS, I was laid out on the bed and she was positioned all around me doing Reiki. The moment her hands passed over my lower abdomen, I had to jump up and RUN to the bathroom. Like a strange laser beam of bowel clockwork.
We laughed about it but it was a pretty significant moment; it was the moment I understood what was possible and believed Reiki might be for me after all. (Because running to the bathroom was normal for me but the remarkable part was how quickly the Reiki energy connected to my body.)
I wasn’t attuned to Reiki until a few years later, but since then I have healed myself of IBS (through Reiki and other means), and I’ve witnessed many more miraculous healings in myself and others. My belief in Reiki has only grown stronger.
There is only one way to know if Reiki is right for you:
Try it and see.
Whether you’re interested in receiving Reiki, learning about Reiki, becoming attuned to Reiki, or even falling back in love with Reiki, the best way to know how you feel about it is to experience it first-hand.
Find someone who offers what you want and give it a whirl. You will know right away if Reiki feels like a fit. And chances are good that if you feel drawn to it, it’s for you.
So there you have it. Now go have fun with Reiki!
