As an Intuitive Energy Healer, one of the most common questions is:
Well, there is a whole industry devoted to developing your intuition. There are books, courses, videos, programs, guides, and exercises. If you want to specialize in intuitive development, there’s more than enough information to feed your head and your soul.
But if you’re not quite ready to dive in, or if you feel a bit overwhelmed by the whole concept and just want to dip your toes in, good news! There is a way for you to strengthen your intuitive connection and more easily read its guidance through simple everyday activities.
We’ve all had those moments, usually early in the morning as we rush to get ready, when we think to ourselves “I better put my lunch/umbrella/phone near the front door so I don’t forget it when I leave.”
And then….you don’t, and you forget it when you leave. And you end up wherever you’re going only to find that dammit, I did leave it on the counter.
Sound familiar?
Or let’s say you’re packing for a trip, and in the interest of saving space, you bring only one pair of shoes. There is a fleeting thought that “Wait – maybe I should bring 2 pairs in case the first pair hurt my feet.” But you don’t.
And? You end up buying an emergency pair of shoes that you don’t even really like because yep, those shoes did give you blisters and ruin your feet. All the while thinking “If only I had listened to that little voice and brought another pair!”
Or how about meeting someone that you immediately get a bad feeling about, but brushing it off and moving forward anyway. And finding out later that they were indeed someone to have a bad feeling about, and if only you’d trusted your gut in the first place, you wouldn’t be in this situation. Dammit.
Well – more good news: That is your intuition. It’s alive and well. Perhaps somewhat neglected, but that is easy to change.
We talk away our intuitive nudges. We consider them, but somehow decide against them. We ignore our inner guidance because our brain says “What?!”
What if, for one whole day, you listened to every intuition and trusted every gut feeling, without question or judgment? What if you honoured the intuitions that arose from within, even the small ones like what kind of soup to have, or what street to turn down as you’re driving?
Would you do things differently?
That is a great first step for developing your intuition. Intuition is like a muscle: the more you use it, the stronger it gets.
If you start with the small things, the BIG things don’t seem so Big.
People always ask “But how do I know it’s my intuition and not my imagination?”
Good question. I have two techniques for this. First, ask “Is it coming FROM me, or is it coming TO me?” Then get quiet and listen. What is your answer? How does it feel?
My second favourite way to tell the difference between intuition and imagination is to ignore the guidance and see if it reappears. The important stuff always does, and the rest falls away.
So the next time you feel a little nudge about your lunch or an umbrella or that second pair of shoes, listen. Pay attention. It’s showing up for you because it’s important for you to know. The more you listen to your intuition, the more it will work to serve you.

omg so true that if you ignore it, it reappears!!
I love the quote, as well, because I ignored the whispers until it became a huge shout that I couldn’t shut out anymore, and am now working my way back from there.
