About 14 years ago, I received my first deck of oracle cards: Simple tarot cards with an accompanying little book, and I couldn’t have been happier.
I still have those tarot cards. They are the only tarot cards I work with.
Throughout their many years of use, certain cards have appeared frequently while others seemingly never turn up. Like the Five of Pentacles. What a dastardly card that I seem to get every time I use the tarot. Or the Ten of Swords. Ugh.
Then we have the Lovers, or the Sun, two cards I never get. I know there is ‘good’ and ‘bad’ in each card, and that we always choose what we most need to know, but it would be nice to get the happy cards onceinawhile.
Although tarot introduced me to oracle cards, I have strayed from my original path and now enjoy working with oracle cards of all kinds. I have 8 different decks, everything from angels to mermaids to animal spirit guides. Talk about variety! Who can resist simple, clear messages with gorgeous artwork on perfectly sized cards? Clearly, not me!
For the past 14 years, my oracle cards readings were just for Fun. I shared them with my friends, family, and of course, myself, but in 2014 have I began to offer these Intuitive Oracle Card Readings professionally. And I love it! Talking with people on skype, consulting the oracle cards and my own intuition for information about certain situations or general inquiries, helping people make connections – I’m learning a lot about myself and others, and it’s been a TON of fun.
Throughout my recent oracle card readings, I have noticed certain cards that present themselves over and over. Just like my tarot, each assorted deck has a few cards that almost jump from the pack.
Like the Peregrine Falcon from
Steven D. Farmer’s Messages from Your Animal Spirit Guides.
This is, without question, the most-pulled card I have in all my packs. It comes up constantly, whether consulting the oracle for myself or a client. It’s even come up twice in one reading (added back to the deck after the first pull). I’ve lost count of how many times it’s been chosen, but I’d say at least 12 times in the last 4 weeks. That’s a lot.
Funnily enough, there is another Peregrine Falcon card from Catherine Bastedo’s Bird Vibes cards, and that’s come up a few times too.
It’s my belief that each card has significance for the reader and the receiver. Where I see lessons for them, there is also a lesson for me. What I pull for someone else, I also pull for myself.
So clearly, the Peregrine Falcon has an important message for me, and for others. Which is cool, I love messages, but….
When do I get the Cat, Dog, and Unicorn cards? I have only seen those ones while shuffling but they look pretty fun. I’d really like to pull those ones sometime if the Peregrine Falcon can ever calm down and hang back for a moment to let the other cards present themselves.
But seriously, this Peregrine Falcon is pretty awesome.
Another frequent repeat is Goddess Hathor, inspiring Receptivity, along with Goddess Sige and her reminder for Quiet time. They both come from Doreen Virtue’s Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards.
Within Don Miguel Ruiz’s Four Agreements cards, there are a few cards that regularly appear in my readings. This is one of the most common:“Be impeccable with your word. Release the need to be right. When you believe something, you assume you are right, and you may even destroy relationships in order to defend your position. Let go of the need to defend your position.”
I can see why this card is so prominent: Needing to feel right is a huge point of struggle for many people.
While looking for the bigger meaning in all of this, I have to consider that perhaps these cards continuously present themselves because their messages are beneficial for the vast majority. Including me.
Here, I have taken one sentence from each card and compiled a little paragraph. Reading through it, I would bet that we ALL need to hear this message:
“Act on the opportunity that’s before you, and commit to it without equivocation. Seek the setting that is right for you, observe well and call on your spiritual power source. Take some quiet time alone to rest, meditate, and contemplate. Allow yourself to receive. Release the need to be right. Let go of the need to defend your position.”
Yep, sounds pretty universal! Message received.
